Each student who participates in athletics needs to have the OCPS SPORTS PACKET completely filled out by a parent/guardian and a doctor before tryouts.

School Physicals are not the same as a sports physical and must be completed on the EL2 Form. A sports physical is good for one calendar year from the date of the physical. However, ALL students must have an updated 2025-2026 form completed.  Simply put, "See last year's physical" if applicable.

OCPS PHYSICAL PACKET must be completely digitally now! Parents must register their students with each form in the packet. Forms included (but not limited to) within the packet are:

EL2 – Preparticipation Physical Evaluation

EL3 – Consent & Release from Liability Certificate

Annual Sports Activity Participation Form

Emergency Treatment Authorization

Please DO NOT wait until the day of tryouts to complete forms. Incomplete forms may delay a student's ability to tryout.

Other Requirements

  • Students must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 from their previous middle school years or previous semesters, whichever is greater. Incoming 6th graders are already eligible to participate in soccer and volleyball.
  • Any student who reaches the age of 15 on or after September 1st will be ineligible for athletics at the middle school level.
  • There is only one girls’ team and one boys’ team for each sport, which means there will be a combination of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders trying out for each team.  Both teams play on the same day, during the week, at the same site.
  • Practices are usually every day and may be before or after school, depending on the coach.
  • There are no fees for being on the team.  However, if the student makes the team, players will be responsible for purchasing items specific to the sport being played and for spirit events. RCMS will do its best to keep costs as low as possible.
